Catherine “Cathy” Louise Broadwater Jeffcoats, 65, passed away Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at St. Dominic’s Hospital in Jackson. Visitation will be Friday, July 20th from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Jackson with a Celebration of Life Service Saturday, July 21st at Noon. Cathy served at Woodlawn Baptist Church in Vicksburg, Parkway Baptist Church in Natchez, Pinelake in Brandon, and was currently serving as Minister of Education at First Baptist Church of Jackson. Some of her awards include MS Top 50 Business Women in 2001, Boy Scouts Shepherd Award in 2012, Baptist Association of Christian Educators Distinguished Leadership Award in 2014, and President of MS Baptist Educators Association from 2014-2015. Other Accomplishments include being named Woman of the Year, featured on Mississippi Strong (April 2017) and served on the board of Downtown Partners, along with numerous other achievements. Mrs. Jeffcoats was preceded in death by her parents, Clifton and Myrtle Broadwater; and by her brother, Cliff, Jr. She is survived by her husband, Pat Jeffcoats; daughters, Christy (Chris) Smalling and Amanda (Patrick) Grissom; sister, Nedra (Vic) Boggs; and six grandchildren. The family would like to thank the following for their care of Cathy: Dr. Paul Seago and Staff, Dr. James T. Thigpen, Dr. Ruth Fredericks, Dr. Al Steele, and the St. Dominic’s Outpatient Infusion Center Staff. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations go to OCRFA (Ovarian Cancer Research Fund Alliance) or First Baptist Church of Jackson, Cathy’s Kids Scholarship.
