Charles Jonathan Johnston

Charles “Charlie” Jonathan Johnston, 69, graced the gates of heaven on June 26, 2025. He was born on November 6, 1955, in Yazoo City, MS, to Jay A. Johnston and Mattie Gwendolyn Powell Johnston.

Charlie served his country as a member of the United States Army. He loved to read, complete puzzles, and watch “NCIS.” He was also devoted to his wife Linda for many years.

Charlie is preceded in death by his parents, Jay Johnston and Mattie Johnston, as well as his wife, Linda Gay Johnston.

He is survived by his sisters, Harriet Johnston Brown (Gary) of Madison, MS, and Cathy Johnston Humphrey (Jackie) of Florence, MS; his nieces, Emma Brown Geiger and Madeline Brown Jenkins; his nephews, Jason Humphrey and Justin Humphrey; an Uncle, an Aunt, numerous cousins and friends who will miss him.

Visitation for Charlie will take place at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence, MS, on Saturday, June 28, 2025, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am immediately followed by a chapel service at the same location. At 1:00 pm a graveside service will be held at Glenwood Cemetery in Yazoo City, MS.
