Wendy Lee Blake Reddick, 72, entered the gates of Heaven on July 19, 2026, after an automobile accident claimed her physical body but not her sweet soul.
She was born on July 30, 1953, at the old Baptist hospital in Jackson, MS; the third of five children of Edward and Charlotte Blake of Pocahontas. Wendy was a gifted social worker with Hospice Ministries for many years. She often sang to her patients in their homes while they were receiving hospice care. Today, we celebrate Wendy’s ministry of the gospel through song and worship.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Byram in Byram, MS, and of the church choir, regularly singing inspirational solos during church services. On the morning of her death, Wendy had sung the song “If That Isn’t Love” by Dottie Rambo - another testament that she is glorified in the arms of our Lord.
In addition to her parents, Wendy is preceded in death by her husband, Wallace “Buddy” Reddick of Byram, MS., and brother Edward L. Blake, Jr. (Marilyn) of Hattiesburg, MS. She is survived by her sister Judy Blake Barnett (Frank) of Cato, Miss.; brother Cary Blake (Pam) of Brandon, MS.; brother Andy Blake (Vickie) of Madison, MS.; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Wendy was a loving wife, daughter, sister, and friend. She loved Buddy’s children as if they were her own. During these last years, Wendy enjoyed spending time with her companion, Aubrey Douglas. Although Wendy’s quiet and gentle spirit will be missed by many, we take comfort in her salvation and in the gospel of Jesus Christ.
