Vernon Earl Loyd, a cherished son, devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, brother, and loyal friend departed this world on April 6, 2025, at St. Dominic-Jackson Memorial Hospital. Born on January 24, 1971, in the heart of Natchez, Mississippi, Vernon lived a life that resonated with warmth, kindness, and unwavering strength.
For twenty years, he applied his skilled hands to the craft of roofing, shaping homes with dedication and precision. Yet, beyond his profession, Vernon was a man of the earth; he found joy in working with cows, the thrill of deer hunting, and the serenity of fishing. A passionate outdoorsman, he reveled in the beauty of nature, embodying the spirit of adventure that so many admired in him.
Vernon loved the game of football. He enjoyed every moment spent watching MSU, his enthusiasm for them was a magnetic force that drew friends and family together. He was known far and wide, touching lives in all fifty states with his infectious charm. To those privileged enough to know him, he was often described as the perfect dad and husband, a steadfast embrace of loyalty and generosity.
Vernon is preceded in death by his father, William Earl Loyd. He leaves behind his beloved wife of almost 22 years, Stephanie Loyd; his two daughters, Nikki Medders (Damian) and Kenzie Loyd, and his cherished grandchildren, Ainsley and Braydon Prestage. Surrounded by his family, Vernon's spirit will live on in the hearts of Nancy Loyd, his mother; Rebecca Loyd, his sister; and his many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-laws; Kevin Hancock, Chris Hancock, Staci Hancock, John Hancock, Susan Deason, Angie Moore and Art Hancock. Nieces and Nephews, Brittany Ward, Donald Overstreet, Kyle Overstreet, Brett Overstreet, Sissy Frost, Matthew Hancock, Amber McDonald, Elijah Moore, Esther Slater, Zeke Slater, M'kayla Neece Hancock, Jaxyn Hancock, Abigail Toten, Danielle Toten, and Joseph Toten. He will be missed dearly by his aunts, Faye Trim, Patsy Smith, Ann Kinnebrew, and Puddin Chambliss, as well as his uncles, Rickey Loyd and James Bradley Tanksey, and countless cousins whose lives he enriched.
Vernon Earl Loyd's visitation will be held at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence on April 11, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and again on April 12, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM. A funeral service will follow on April 12, beginning at 10:00 AM, followed by his burial at Unity Baptist Church in Pattison at 12:45 PM.

Though we gather to bid farewell to this remarkable man, we celebrate a life well-lived—a life infused with love, laughter, and the outdoors. Vernon Earl Loyd is gone but not forgotten; his spirit will forever roam the pastures and fields he loved, reminding all of us of the beauty he imparted during his time with us. #HuglikeVern
