Tyler James Owens

September 23, 1985 — March 31, 2026

Pearl

Tyler James Owens, 40, passed away Tuesday, March 31, 2026. The family will receive friends for visitation at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence on Friday, April 3rd, from 5:00–7:00 p.m., and again on Saturday, April 4th, from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. funeral service. There will be no graveside service; however, friends are welcome to join his family at his home to continue celebrating the life of this incredible man.

Tyler was born on September 23, 1985. He lived in Florence for the past 20 years and was a proud graduate of Pearl High School, Class of 2004. He worked for the Pearl Police Department before joining his beloved work family at SEFCO/CED in Jackson. Despite having a shy personality, he was a phenomenal salesman and received several awards and recognitions for his professional accomplishments.

Tyler was the truest friend a person could have. He loved with his whole heart, gave generously of his time and attention, and adored his family more than words could ever express. His absence is unbearable to those who knew him. If you know how big his heart was, then you understand how it finally gave out on him Tuesday night.

Tyler is preceded in death by his first wife, April Koen Owens, whom he loved unconditionally. He spoke of her daily and was honored to be by her side until her battle with breast cancer took her from him far too soon. He is also preceded in death by his grandparents, James and Isabel Smith of Pearl, and Edward and Peggy Owens of Pearl. He is survived by his wife, Tara Owens of Florence; his parents, Isabel and Larry Thomas of Pearl, and David and Liz Owens of Pearl; his stepdaughters, Everly Wiles and Sawyer Wiles of Florence; his brother, Todd Owens of Pearl; his sisters, Lauren (JoJo) Roberts of Brandon, Bri Stringer of Pearl, and Cortni (Grey) Boutwell of Brandon; stepsister, Ashley Duckworth of Clinton, MS; his nieces, Isabel Roberts, Abbygale Roberts, and Brynna Claire Stringer; his nephews, Braden Stringer, John Thomas Boutwell, Samuel Boutwell, and Wyatt Boutwell; and his in-laws, Mike and Tammy Blaine of Byram, Sarah (Corey) Hanson of Richland, Austin (Lauren) Brown of Richland, Eli Brown of Richland, and Tyler Hanson of Richland.

Also left behind are his dear friends Justin Long of Terry, Anita Ray of Pearl, Johnny and Karen Leggett of Ridgeland; his entire CED work family; his found family at Pickwick Lake; his Hoodtown Hunting Club; his beloved pets, Lola, Blanche, and Tilly; and so many others, far and wide, who cherished his friendship.
