Thomas “Tommy” Tarrel Douglas, affectionately known as "Tank," passed away peacefully on June 14, 2026, in Byram, Mississippi. Born on August 27, 1947, in Magee, Mississippi.
Tommy held an associate's degree in Commercial Industrial Air Conditioning from Hinds Community College, which laid the foundation for a remarkable 38-year career as an HVAC technician with Terry Trane. Toward the latter part of his professional journey, he brought his expertise to Grand Gulf, where his steadfast work ethic and commitment were well respected by colleagues.
Throughout his life, Tommy was a man who treasured his family above all else. He was especially devoted to his two sons, “T.J.” and “Ben”, whom he lovingly raised with a strong appreciation for hunting and fishing. These outdoor pursuits were not merely pastimes for him but family traditions he proudly passed down. His enthusiasm for fishing, hunting, and playing golf reflected a spirit who embraced life fully and joyously. His joy in sharing these passions extended to his beloved grandson, Jensen, with whom he spent many cherished moments.
He was always present at his sons’ sporting events, and was never one to miss a game, always cheering with immense pride and enthusiasm. His generous spirit and infectious love for life endeared him to many who had the pleasure of knowing him. Equally notable was his unwavering faith; he openly shared his love for God, providing encouragement and kindness wherever he went.
Tommy’s legacy is one of love, generosity, integrity, and faithfulness, qualities that defined his character and enriched the lives of those around him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Garland Douglas and Golda Smith, his brother Butch Douglas, sister Nancy Luckey and her husband Roland, as well as his stepfather Millard Smith.
He is survived by his two sons, Thomas Tarrel “T.J.” Douglas, Jr., of Byram and Benjamin “Ben” Douglas and his wife, Cheyenne of Florence, and his beloved grandson, Jensen Douglas, as well as the mother of his children, Deborah Douglas, his sister-in-law Diana Douglas, niece Holly Gomez, and nephew Buck Douglas. He also leaves behind several great nieces, nephews, and numerous extended family members and friends.
He is also survived by his cherished partner of many years, Leslie James of Byram, and her children Adam Wallace, Justin Wallace (Emily), Lindsey Clark (Blake), as well as grandchildren Collins Clark and Rainer Clark, each of whom felt his profound love and support.
His memory will forever be etched in the hearts of all who knew him—a devoted family man, a skilled professional, and a friend whose generosity knew no bounds.
Tommy’s life was a testament to the power of family, faith, and a passion for the outdoors. He will be deeply missed, fondly remembered, and eternally loved.
