Sue Owen

Mrs. Willie Sue Owen passed into the arms of Jesus on Friday, December 9, 2022, at her home in Florence. She was 84 years old. The family will receive friends for visitation on Monday, December 12^th from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence and again on Tuesday, December 13^th from 1:00 p.m. until the 2:00 p.m. funeral service at Hickory Ridge Baptist Church in Florence. She will be laid to rest at Richland Cemetery.

Mrs. Owen was born December 20, 1937, to the late Willie Richard and Clara Mae Crawford in Harrisville, MS. She was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church in Richland. She loved going to church and was always excited to be there every time the doors were open. Mrs. Sue loved her family, especially her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren. She was a woman that loved unconditionally, she especially loved babies. She was an excellent cook, and you could always count on a meal at her house. Even though she loved to cook, she also enjoyed going out to eat.

Along with her parents, Mrs. Sue was also preceded in death by her husband of 49 ½ years, Tommy “Eugene” Owen; her brothers, James Earl Crawford, Weber Crawford, Truitt Crawford, and Larry Crawford; and her grandson, Greg Taylor.

She is survived by her daughters, Debbie (Stanley) Weathersby of Florence and Kay (Ronnie) Nelson of Crystal Springs; sisters, Mary Louise “Sissy” Fortenberry, Ann Simmons, and Carolyn Thompson; grandchildren, Paige Woods, Jesse (Lisa) Nelson, and Blake Taylor; great grandchildren, Ryder Nelson, Hailey (Braden) Olney, Layla Taylor, and Danielle Nelson; and her great great grandchildren, Issabel and Abbigal Olney.
