Shirley L. McGowan

Shirley McGowan, 85, passed away Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at her home. \ \ Mrs. McGowan was born in Jackson and grew up in Raymond before moving to Florence 5 years ago. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Florence and spent most of her life as a childcare worker with Epworth United Methodist Church and Parkway Baptist Church. She raised three daughters after her husband's death, often while working two jobs. She will be remembered as a giving person who loved animals. \ \ Mrs. McGowan is survived by her daughters, Gayle (Ric) Nolen of Florence, Pam (Richard) King of Richland and Mary (Carman) Frank of Florence; one brother, Bobby Herron of AL; one sister, Edna Earl Fiveash of Poplarville; 7 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren\
