Shirley Atwood Scoggins, age 76, gained her Angel Wings on August 1, 2026. She was born on September 13, 1949, in Raleigh, Mississippi, to Buck and Connie Atwood.

Shirley grew up in Pearl, Mississippi, where she attended Pearl High School and graduated Class of 1967. Following high school, she continued her education at Hinds Community College. She then embarked on a long career with South Central Bell (AT&T), where she worked until her retirement in 2000.

In Jr. High school, Shirley met the love of her life, John Scoggins. The two were wed on May 24, 1969, and shared 57 beautiful years of marriage together. Their enduring union was blessed with two daughters, Kathy (Brad) Farris and Holly (Kenneth) Lancaster.

Shirley's greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her loving husband, John Scoggins; daughters, Kathy (Brad) Farris and Holly (Kenneth) Lancaster; three beautiful granddaughters, Morgan (Sam) Skipper, Gracen Lancaster, and Briley Lancaster; two adorable great-grandchildren, Ava Grace Skipper (2) and Kolsen Skipper (6 months); sister, Elaine Atwood of Pearl; niece, Adrian Worley of San Diego; and nephew, Aaron Worley of Raymond.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Buck and Connie Atwood, and her sister, Betty Sue Heart.

Services will be held on Thursday, August 6, 2026, at Raymond Road Baptist Church. Visitation will take place from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, with the funeral service beginning at 11:00 AM.

Burial will follow at Floral Hills Cemetery in Pearl, Mississippi, where Shirley will be laid to rest next to her beloved parents.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Shirley's memory to the Central Hinds Softball Team or Raymond Road Baptist Church.
