Jo Ann Nipper, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, gracefully passed away on October 6, 2025, in Florence, Mississippi. Born on July 14, 1937, in Puckett, Mississippi, Jo Ann embodied a life rich in love, warmth, and kindness that touched the hearts of all who knew her.
Jo Ann was a devoted wife to her late husband, William Harvey Nipper, with whom she shared a remarkable 42 years of marriage. Their bond was a beautiful testament to love and partnership, a true inspiration to those around them. Together, they built a family that continues to carry forward her legacy of compassion and joy.
She was a nurturing mother to her three sons, William Michael Nipper (Melba), James Gary Nipper (Shannon), and Douglas Randall Nipper. Her love extended beyond her immediate family, as she poured her heart into the lives of her grandchildren: Trey, Jessica, Adam, Wendy, Blake, and Claire. Each child brought her immense joy, and she embraced her role as Mamaw to her 10 great-grandchildren with boundless affection.
Known for her warm and welcoming nature, Jo Ann found solace in the simple pleasures of life. She cherished time spent reading, tending to her garden, and nurturing her beloved flowers. Her easy-going personality was a refuge for friends and family alike, who often sought her gentle guidance and understanding.
Jo Ann’s love for those around her was mirrored in her close relationships with her sisters, Guinell (Henry) and Bobbie (Howard). Together, they shared memories that will forever be etched in the fabric of their family history. Their camaraderie and support were invaluable to Jo Ann, and she held them dear to her heart.
Jo Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Miley and Jolene Thompson Miley; her brother, Larry Miley; and her son, Douglas Randall Nipper. These losses, while profound, did not define her; rather, they fueled her strength and resilience. Her spirit remains a source of comfort and inspiration to those left behind.
