Obituary

Sara Maxcine Brunson, 89, passed away peacefully into the presence of her Lord and Savior on July 3, 2026.

Maxcine was born on May 6, 1937 in Deemer, MS to Amos Burl Clark and Bessie Smith Clark. After graduating from Philadephia High School, she moved to Jackson where she met the love of her life, Bill Brunson. They were married on May 4, 1957 and shared a devoted marriage until Bill's passing in 2013.She Worked at the Children's Clinic in Jackson for 30 years before becoming the secretary at First Baptist Church of Terry where she was also a faithful member until the Lord called her home.A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, Maxine's greatest joy was her family. Together they travelled countless miles following her children and grandchildren's rodeo competitions across the country. Those years were filled with Laughter, adventure, lifelong friendships and treasured memories that became the foundation of a family legacy rooted in hard work, determination and love.Known affectionately as "Granny" to her 11 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren, she made everyone feel at home. She will be remembered for her unwavering sense of humor, her authentic spirit and the genuine way she loved those around her.

Maxcine is survived by her children, Barry (Ellen) Brunson, Sherri Conner, and Susan (Frank) Tullos; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many extended family members and friends. 

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, her parents, and her siblings, Durwood Clark and Elois Gibson. Her life was a beautiful testimony of faith, family, laughter and love, and her memory will forever be treasured by all who were blessed to know her. The family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude to Ruby McMullen, Geraldine Morrow, and Liz Young, along with the other caregivers and nurses who lovingly assisted the family in her care.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 8, at 10am at First Baptist Church of Terry followed by funeral services at 11 am.
