Robert Charles Reed, Jr

December 28, 1944 — May 25, 2025

Jackson

Robert C. “Bob” Reed Jr. passed away peacefully at the age of 80 in his home on the morning of May 25, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones.

Bob (aka Dad, Daddy, Papa) was a loving, caring, and generous husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother. He was an honest, fair, hard-working, and street-smart businessman who built a thriving and respected sign business from the ground up. It was often said that he could sell ice to an Eskimo, but he wouldn’t do it if it wasn’t the right thing to do. He was a natural leader and was often recruited to lead various organizations that he volunteered with. He always stood up for the little guy and despised injustice – especially the suffering of innocent children. He was a great listener and a trusted confidante and advisor - you could always count on him for thoughtful, honest and impartial advice (though he did freely share his opinions). He was a steady presence, a source of wisdom, laughter, and unconditional love. He was our coach, our biggest cheerleader, and our best friend, and we will miss him dearly.

Bob was born in Amite, Louisiana on December 28, 1944, the first born of Captain Robert C. Reed Sr., Retired U.S. Army (1957) and Anna Laura Brooks Reed (1998). He is also preceded in death by his brother, Patrick J. Reed. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Holmes Reed; his sister, Elizabeth “Libby” Reed Hopson and her husband Melvin Hopson; his children, Robert C. “Bo” Reed III and his wife Brigid Brinkman Reed, Cinamon Reed Streva, Christian H. Reed and his wife Candice Chappell Reed, and Bradley D. Reed and his wife Shannon Racheal Reed. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren and four great-grandchildren whom he worshiped and adored.

We will miss him more than words can express, but we are thankful for the time we had with him and are comforted by the many wonderful memories we share. A private service for close family and friends will be held in the coming days. Thank you for holding our family in your hearts and prayers.
