Rex Darrell Wilkinson, age 84, a resident of Hinds County, passed away peacefully on June 29, 2026. He was born on August 11, 1941. Rex will be remembered for his strength, kindness, and unwavering love for his family. He touched the lives of many through his generous heart, quiet wisdom, and the lasting memories he created with those who knew him.
Rex was preceded in death by his father, Malcolm “Mack” Arnold Wilkinson; his mother, Vera Edna Campbell Richburg; his wife, Jennifer Wilkinson; his sister, Norma Dell Wilkinson; and his brothers, Don Wilkinson, Norman Wilkinson, Joe Wilkinson, Lloyd Richburg, and others who welcomed him into eternal rest.
He leaves behind a loving family who will cherish his memory forever. He is survived by his daughter, Robyn Foster and her husband, Michael; his son, Daryl Wilkinson and his wife, Leigh; his beloved grandchildren, Meghan, Raven, Shelby, and Brandon; and his treasured great-grandchildren, Kaya, Conor, Andrew, Casper, Phoenix, Madeline, Leo, and Axel Rex is also survived by his stepsons, Mike Watkins and his wife, Pam and their son, Chase Watkins; and Chad Watkins and his wife, Heather, and their daughters, Haley, and Molly. Though not connected by blood alone, they were an important part of his life and family.
He is further survived by his brother, Bobby Wilkinson; his sisters, Deloris Foshee and Linda Barnett, as well as many cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members and dear friends who will miss him greatly.
Rex believed that family was life’s greatest blessing. Whether sharing stories, offering a helping hand, or simply spending time with those he loved, he made those around him feel valued. His legacy will live on through the lives he influenced, the lessons he taught, and the love he gave so freely.
Although our hearts are heavy with sorrow, we find comfort in knowing that Rex’s love and memories will remain with us always. His life was a gift, his presence a blessing, and his memory a treasure that will never fade.
A celebration of Rex’s life will be held at 9:30am on July 7th. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance, share stories, and honor a man whose life left a lasting mark on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
