Mr. Rex E. Allen

Rex Edwin Allen, 64, passed away at his home in Florence on Monday, May 3, 2021. The family will receive friends for visitation on Friday, May 7th from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence, MS. The funeral service will begin at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. He will be laid to rest on Tuesday, May 11th at Mississippi Veteran’s Cemetery in Newton, MS. Rex was born November 25, 1956 in Camden, AR to the late James and Willie Allen. He attended Hickory Ridge Baptist Church in Florence. He worked as a Police Officer with Pearl Police Department before his retirement. He also proudly served his country as a Sniper with the U.S. Marines. Rex loved God, his family, friends, and his country. In his free time, he loved to fish and spend time with his family and friends. Rex is survived by his wife of 21 years, Gena Allen of Florence; sons, Joseph (Ashley) Allen of Byram, Wesley Patterson of Florence and Cody Allen of Florence; grandchildren, Claire Allen, Bentley Bryant, Parker Patterson, and Gunner Rex Patterson; brother, Jimmy (Debbie) Allen of Greenville, MS; and sister, Charlotte (Jim) Allen of Greenville, MS.
