Obituary

Penny Leann Equinoa, known lovingly to her friends as Dusty, was born on April 22, 1964, in Stockton, California. On March 22, 2026, she passed peacefully into a better life at her cherished home in Byram, Mississippi.

Penny was the heart of her family, a devoted mother, proud grandmother, beloved sister, daughter, and a true friend to many. She leaves behind her three sons, Jason, Ray, and Tim, who carry forward her strength and spirit. Her legacy continues to shine through her eight grandchildren: Hannah, Valerie, Andreanna, Tatum, Teagan, Tristan, Gage, and Connor, each of whom brought her immense joy and pride.

She was reunited in peace with her grandparents, Jack and Esther Collins, and her parents, Terrance McKeon and Madge Richardson, who preceded her in passing.

From the very beginning, Penny lived life with a rare and beautiful freedom of spirit. She found comfort in nature, wonder in the open road, and meaning in the connections she built along the way. Her love for family and animals was unwavering, expressed not just in words, but in the countless ways she gave of herself every single day. A deeply creative soul, Penny found joy in drawing and painting—capturing the world as she saw it, full of depth, color, and emotion. She had a curious mind and a passion for reading, immersing herself in fantasy worlds, historical journeys, and spiritual reflections that spoke to her thoughtful nature. To know Penny was to feel seen, welcomed, and cared for. She had a gift for lifting others up; offering shelter, comfort, or simply a listening ear when it was needed most. Her kindness was genuine, her generosity boundless, and her presence unforgettable. She will forever be remembered as a free-spirited, deeply loving, and compassionate woman whose light touched everyone she met.

Though she is no longer with us, her spirit lives on in the hearts of those who loved her—and in every act of kindness inspired by her memory.
