Mytra Joan White, born Mytra Joan Windom, passed away on October 1, 2026, in Hazlehurst, Mississippi, the town where her life first began on March 18, 1955. She will be remembered with love for the quiet and meaningful ways she shared her gifts with others, and for the devotion she gave to her family, her work, and her church.
Mrs. White spent many years working in the bookstore at Co-Lin, where she became a familiar and valued presence. She also taught private piano lessons, sharing her knowledge and love of music with those she guided. Her musical gifts were also offered faithfully in worship as the pianist at Antioch Baptist Church, where her service was a lasting part of the life of the congregation.
At the heart of Mytra’s life was her family. She is survived by her husband, Randy White, with whom she shared 50 years of marriage. She also leaves behind her sons, Preston White and Rhonie, Jonathan White and Deann, and Matthew White. Her love continues through her grandchildren, Harlow White, Oliver White, Gannon White, Olivia Wite, Canderous White, Jax White, and Vash White. She is also survived by her father, Vance Ernest Windom I.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Levenia Windom; by her son, Makinzie White; and by her brother, Vance Ernest Windom II.
Mytra Joan White will be remembered as a woman of faith, music, and steadfast love. Her memory will remain cherished by all who knew her and by the family who will carry her love forward.
