Minnie Malley Garrett passed away on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at Briar Hill Nursing and Rehab.
Minnie was born on May 5, 1937, in Richton, MS, to Reverend Virgil and Maude Malley. She attended nursing school at Gilfoy School of Nursing and graduated in 1958. She worked at Mississippi Baptist Hospital most of her nursing career and retired from there in 2001. Minnie was a devout Christian and loved the Lord. She was an active member of First Baptist Church of Richland.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Eugene “Gene” Garrett; her parents, Virgil and Maude Malley; her sisters, Marie Moore and Betty Dear; and her brothers, James, Bill, and Bobby Malley.
She is survived by her son Wendell Garrett (Lynn) of Clinton, MS; her daughter Angelia Farris (Rick) of Richland, MS; her grandchildren she dearly loved, Sam Garrett of Clinton, MS, Haley Franks (Stevie) of Starkville, MS; and her 3 Great Grandchildren, Judah, Abel, and Lucy Franks of Starkville, MS; and several nieces and nephews. Her pallbearers will be Sam Garrett, Matt Covey, Mark Malley, Eric Dear, Reese Jones, and Chet Dear.
All services are Friday, May 16, 2025, at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence, MS. Visitation will be at 10:00 am followed by a service at 11:00 am officiated by Dr. Kevin Jones.
The family would like to express their deepest appreciation to Briar Hill Nursing Home and staff of Florence, MS. They were all wonderful.
In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in Minnie’s memory to First Baptist Church of Richland’s sanctuary renovation.
