Mr. Michael "Mike" Smiddy

Michael “Mike” Smiddy, 63, passed away on March 17, 2020 in Florence, MS. Because of the current world situation there will be no visitation or funeral service. Arrangements are being handled by Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence, MS. Michael’s family has requested that family and friends visit the Florence Cemetery gravesites of the Smiddy family to pay their respects. Please make any memorial gifts to a charity of your choice in memory of Michael. Michael was a graduate of Belhaven University and was a veteran of the United States Navy. He loved playing baseball and riding horses in earlier years. He had two beloved boxer dogs, Joe and Sam, and always had a special bond with dogs and horses. He was a man of many talents, a loyal friend and family member, always ready to help another in need. His sister, Janice, would like to lift up his love for his parents and his role as caregiver for them both for many years with enduring love and patience. Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Dayne Smiddy of Florence, MS; his niece, Lora Statham of Morrisville, NC; and many other family members. He is survived by his sister, Janice Smiddy, Statham of Leander, TX; and a niece, Shelley (Jess) Baldwin of Grand Rapids, MI. Janice would like to offer thanks to everyone in MS who has helped her and her family through this time.
