Mr. Michael C. Baldwin, 86, passed away peacefully on September 30, 2026. He was born on July 8, 1940, in Natchez, Mississippi, to William H. Baldwin and Beatrice Newman Baldwin. He grew up in Natchez before moving to Jackson, where they raised their family. In November of 1989, they built their home in Terry where he spent the remainder of his life.
Mr. Baldwin proudly served 6 years in the Mississippi Air National Guard. He attended MS College. He went on to build a long and respected career and retired in 2002, as an electrician with Entergy, where he worked for 38 years. He was previously a meter reader and part of the line crew as well. His dedication to his work and his willingness to serve others were important parts of the life he built.
Growing up in the country fueled Mr. Baldwin’s love of the outdoors, and he took every opportunity to enjoy it. As a young boy he achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. He especially enjoyed deer hunting, squirrel hunting and turkey hunting. He loved fishing as well. He was known as a wonderful conversationalist and could always keep those around him engaged with a good story or joke.
Family was at the heart of Mr. Baldwin's life. He loved his family dearly and especially adored his grandchildren and great-grandsons. He always had a story, prank, or joke ready to share with them, creating memories that they will carry with them for years to come. He taught them how to hunt, fish, and drive, but most importantly to serve the Lord faithfully.
Mr. Baldwin also had a special appreciation for 1950s and gospel music. He enjoyed listening to music and took pride in collecting records. His collection was a reflection of a lifelong love and devotion to His Savior and the music he grew up with.
Mr. Baldwin was a faithful member of Bethesda Baptist Church, where he found fellowship and remained connected to his faith and church family. He served on many committees and was a member of the Adult Sunday School Class. He previously was a member of Oak Forest Baptist Church from 1965-1989. He accepted Jesus Christ as His Savior as a teenager at a local Baptist church in Natchez.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Baldwin and Beatrice Baldwin; his loving wife of 62 years, Dorothy Sue Baldwin; his sister, Elise V. Baldwin; and his granddaughter, Shelby Lynn Bell.
Mr. Baldwin leaves behind his daughters, Kimberly Hutton (Ed) and Connie Scarborough (John); his granddaughters, Kelsey Sullivan (Christian) and Heather Hutton; and his great-grandsons, Wesley Sullivan and Wade Sullivan. He is also survived by his brother, William H. “Bill” Baldwin, Jr. (Karen), along with extended family and many friends.
Mr. Baldwin will be remembered for his love of family, quick wit, storytelling, devotion to his work, love of the outdoors, and appreciation for the simple joys of life. His family will treasure the countless stories, jokes, conversations, and memories he shared with them throughout the years.
Though he will be deeply missed, Mr. Baldwin's legacy lives on through the family he loved so dearly and the many lives he touched along the way.
