Mrs. Mary Virginia Thomas

Mary Virginia Thomas, 96, passed away on Monday, April 26, 2021. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 01, 2021 at Elmwood Cemetery in Birmingham, Alabama. A long-time resident of Terry, Mary was born on October 16, 1924 to Elbert Sloan and Mollie Odom Sloan in Mystic, Georgia. She was a member of First Baptist Church. Mary watched Wheel of Fortune every night and was very good at solving the puzzles. She enjoyed reading and read countless books over the past few years. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Thomas and daughter, Melony Cumbie. She is survived by her son, Jerald (Jan) Thomas of Terry; daughter, Judith Thomas Brazelton of Galveston, TX; son-in-law, Earl Cumbie; sister, Vivian Harrell of N. Augusta, SC; six grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
