Mary Helen Woods Smith, 65, of Brandon peacefully entered the gates of Heaven on Tuesday, March 26, 2024.  

Mary Helen was born on March 11, 1959, in Benton, Mississippi in Yazoo County where she attended Benton Academy. The most important people to her were her family. She grew up spending her time surrounded by cousins and siblings. In her later years, the joy of her life were her children and grandchildren. She spent her life as a devoted mother, wife, and friend; however, her most loved title was MaeMae where she was adored by her 6 grandchildren. 

Mary Helen is preceded in death by her parents, Louise and Johnnie Woods; her two brothers, Johnnie Woods, Jr and Bill Woods; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Mary Emma Smith and Warren Smith; and brother-in-law, Billy Smith. She is survived by her loving husband of over 40 years, Charley Smith; three sons- Chas and Tara Smith, Brent and Heather Smith, and Trent and Kathy Smith; six perfect grandchildren- Ellie Smith, Charley Smith, Savannah Dill, Adalyn Smith, Davis Smith, and Hayes Smith; two sisters, Cheri and Charles Huffmaster and Linda and Ricky Norrid; brother-in-law, John and Shelia Smith; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

A family graveside service will be held Saturday, March 30th, at 11:00 a.m. at the Woods family home place cemetery in Benton, Ms. There will be a celebration of life fellowship on Saturday, March 30th, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Antioch Baptist Church in Pearl. 

The family is grateful for the outpouring of love shown to them during this unexpected loss of such a phenomenal woman in their lives.
