Marion (Chief) F. Parker, Jr. 82, passed away Monday, July 14, 2008 at CMMC.\ \ Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 15, 2008 at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram, Mississippi with the funeral service at Chancellor on Wednesday, July 16, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. with graveside services immediately following at Zion Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Wesson, Mississippi.\ \ Marion was born and raised in Laurel, Mississippi. He was a member of Hickory Ridge Baptist Church in Florence, Mississippi. He is a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp having fought in World War II.\ \ He was a loving and devoted husband to his wife, Katherine for 64 years. Shortly after they married, they moved to Jackson, Mississippi to make their home. In addition, he was a wonderful father, grandfather, brother, and friend to many.\ \ He was preceded in death by his parents Marion F. Parker, Sr. and Elma Vermell Weems Parker as well as four sisters and one brother.\ \ Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Katherine N. Parker; daughter, Patsy (Bo) Prisock of Florence; Franky (Ethel) Parker of Wesson, MS; James R. "Robby" (Mary) Parker of Jackson, Mickey (Kay) Parker of Jackson and Ronnie Michael of Knoxville, Tennessee; brothers, Ward Lee, Kenneth Herbert, Jerome and a sister, Rebecca Williamson. He leaves behind seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.\ \ Pallbearers will be: Mitch Parker, Jeff Parker, Jerry Brister, Greg Smith, Jeffrey Dampeer, Irvin Ellard, and Mark Williamson.\ \ He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He was an entrepreneur in the auto mechanic business and owned several gas stations throughout many years. Enough cannot be said about the Chief's generous and caring heart and all the people whose lives he touched are better because he so freely gave his time, love and even monetary support for their needs. He was an avid golfer who loved nothing more than a round of golf with his family and friends and living up to his name on the course, "Chief".\ \ On line guest book at www.chancellorfuneralhome.com\
