Marilyn
Yelverton
May 22, 1952 – April 30, 2026
Rexford Methodist Church cemetery
Starts at 2:00 pm (Central time)
Marilyn Patricia “Meme” Yelverton passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 30, 2026, at her home, surrounded by her family. Graveside services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, May 16, at the Rexford Methodist Church cemetery in Florence, Mississippi with Rev. Ron Gomillion officiating.
Marilyn was born to William F. Seal, Jr. and Barbara McKenzie Seal in Jackson and later moved to Florence. After graduating from Florence High School, she married Ronnie Yelverton, Sr. and moved to Star where they built a home that she lived in for 50 years until her death. She was most recently employed by the Mississippi Workers Compensation Commission as an Administrative Assistant. Her favorite job of all, however, was being a mother and grandmother. She was deeply invested in the lives of her children and grandchildren, and she could always be found at school functions, sporting events, or musical performances. She was also always up for an outing to the casino provided she could find a good friend or family member to make the trip with her. She never hit a big jackpot but may have the world’s record for free-play, comped meals, and enough casino gifts to fill up an entire room of her house.
Marilyn was a loving wife, mother and grandmother to her family and a cherished friend to many. She will be deeply missed by all who were lucky enough to know her and will be remembered for her bright smile, generous nature, and contagious sense of humor.
Marilyn is proceeded in death by her father, William F. Seal, Jr. of Star. She is survived by her mother, Barbara McKenzie Seal of Star; brother, David Seal, Sr. (Judy) of Star; sister-in-law, Nancy Yelverton Anderson (Les) of Edgewater, FL; children, Ronnie Yelverton, Jr. (Racheal) of Brandon, Tommy Yelverton of Magee, Cassie Shook (Stace) of Brandon; grandchildren, Triston Cuellar of Oxford, Keaton Taylor of Brandon, Elyza Yelverton of Magee, Alaina Shook of Brandon; and great-grandson Koen McMillian of Brandon.
Rexford Methodist Church is located at 130 Rexford Church Rd, Florence, MS 39073.
