Marie-Luise “Marlu” Branson, 82, passed away Sunday, May 26, 2019 after a short illness. Visitation is 9:00am Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram; funeral services are 11am Tuesday in the chapel. Marlu was born in Germany in 1936 to the late Joseph and Berta Bilz. She came to the United States at the age of 18 and was a proud American citizen but never forgot her German heritage. She has resided in the Jackson area for the last 45 years and was a faithful member of St Therese Catholic Church. She loved cultural arts and volunteered her time to the MS Museum of Art. As a wonderful cook, she enjoyed sharing her German meals with her family and her neighbors who she adored. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband of 42 years, John H. Branson, Jr. She leaves behind her children: Cindy Wood (Dwain) of Byram, Michele Roberts (Newton) of Florence and Jennifer Lampkin (Mark) of Pisgah. Her brother; Wolfram Bilz and 2 sisters in law; Hanna-Lara Bilz and Veeda Branson, brother in law, Rev. Clifford Branson, 7 precious grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and a host of friends.
