Luther Roan, Jr.

Luther Lee Roan, Jr., 75, passed away Thursday, January 17, 2008 at his home in Terry.\ Visitation will be 5-8pm Friday, January 18, 2008 at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram and 12 until the 2:00pm service time Saturday in the funeral home chapel.\ Interment will follow in Floral Hill Memory Gardens in Pearl.\ \ Mr. Roan a U.S. Army Veteran, began his career as a Juvenile Officer with the Jackson Police Department. Next came Youth Court Administrator, then on to City Commissioner for 4 years and then Jackson City Councilman for 8 years. Mr. Roan was a longtime, active and past President of Leavell Woods Exchange Club and State Treasurer of MS District of National Exchange Club. He was a longtime member and Deacon (40+ years), at Alta Woods Baptist Church.\ \ He is preceded in death by his wife Faye Roan and brother, Kenneth Roan.\ \ Survivors include his son Lee Roan (Lorie Anne) of Pearl; daughters Jennifer Blackwell (Steve) of Terry, Carla Thornton (Joe) of Biloxi; grandchildren Saisha and Brennen Roan, Shelby and Taylor Wilkinson, Bailey and Kinsey Thornton, Matt , Mark and Barry Blackwell. \ \ On line guest book available at www.chancellorfuneralhome.com.\
