Obituary

Larry C. Wilson, born January 11, 1953, in Jackson, passed away peacefully on July 28, 2026, in his hometown, leaving behind a legacy cherished by family and friends.

Larry’s journey began and ended in Jackson, a city that shaped his life and benefited from his presence. Throughout the years, he became known for his unwavering kindness, resourcefulness, and gentle spirit. Larry had a genuine passion for music—he loved playing the keyboard, finding comfort and joy in each note. His skills extended far beyond music, as he was known for his exceptional ability to fix things. Whether tending to repairs around his own homes or helping others, his hands-on expertise was admired, and his generosity knew no bounds.

Larry was a devoted family man whose love and care created lasting bonds across generations. He is survived by his beloved daughter, Dacy Mackenzie, who brought light to his life and shared many meaningful moments by his side. His grandchildren, Logan (Lauren) Wilson and Brooke Mackenzie, were sources of immense pride and delight, while great-grandchildren Bodie Wilson and Ellie Wilson carried forward his legacy of compassion and strength. Larry’s siblings—Leslie (Tammy) Wilson, Monty Wilson, Greg Wilson, and Sherry Russell—stood as pillars of love and support throughout his life. He is also remembered by his beloved niece, Brooklyn Wilson, and Lynn Varner.

Larry’s memory is further honored by recalling those who preceded him in death: his father Charles Wilson and mother Jennie Wilson; and his brother Jerry Randall “Lion” Wilson. Their spirits, along with Larry’s, continue to inspire and guide all those who loved them.

Throughout his 73 years, Larry found fulfillment not only in nurturing his family and friendships but also in his many interests. His capacity for fixing, mending, and improving was evident to all who knew him—a testament to perseverance and care, and a legacy that will be carried on through those he has left behind.

Friends and family are invited to gather for visitation on Saturday, August 1, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Terry, located at 209 Raymond St, Terry, MS 39170. A funeral service celebrating Larry’s life will follow at 11:00 a.m., also at First Baptist Church of Terry, with burial afterwards at Terry City Cemetery, Cemetery Drive, Terry, MS 39170.

The memory of Larry C. Wilson will live on in the hearts of those who knew him, and his generosity, passion, and loving nature will continue to inspire future generations.
