Joshua "Gannon" Rayborn

Joshua Gannon Rayborn, known as Gannon to all who loved him, was born on July 30, 2011, and left this world on August 3, 2026, in Florence, Mississippi. Gannon’s fifteen years were marked by an extraordinary spirit, a tender heart, and a radiant presence that touched everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Gannon was the beloved son of Kyle and Katie Rayborn and the cherished brother of Luke and Max Rayborn. His light shines on through his family, including grandparents Tammy Fitzhugh, David and Brenda Rayborn, and Bill and Darnell Adams, and Uncle Keith Rayborn, Aunt Stephanie (Patrick) Ellis and many cousins. He joins, in peace, his late grandfather Don Fitzhugh and great-grandmothers Cleo Torrence, Pauline Mullins, and Ida Nell Allen.

His pursuit of Christ was central to his life. Gannon was a proud member of Hickory Ridge Baptist Church, and a part of the BOLD Youth Ministry. He BOLDly shared the gospel by going on multiple mission trips in several states and even followed the command of making disciples on mission in Reynosa, Mexico. Also, a member of the Men's Alliance-Eagle Ridge Tribe, Gannon learned and even taught what it meant to be Tribal, Rugged, & Real.

Gannon attended Florence High School from kindergarten onward and throughout this time made countless lasting friendships. He had a way of making every person he came in contact with feel valued and seen. He was gifted with a genuine love for people. As the middle brother, Gannon was intentional about leading one while admiring the other. His glowing personality could light up any room, but if you were ever looking for him, you could find him with Chloe. The bond between these two was undeniable. He was quick with a joke, unafraid to show off his dance moves, and loved to find adventure. He found joy in the outdoors and could often be found fishing, hunting or playing basketball. Empathetic and hardworking, he was quietly becoming the thoughtful, caring young man that Christ died for him to be.

To know Gannon was to love him. His laughter, compassion, and courage left a lasting imprint on his family, friends, and an entire community. His legacy will continue in the hearts of all who witnessed his bright and loving soul.

A visitation for Gannon will be held on August 6, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Hickory Ridge Baptist Church, 319 Hickory Ridge Rd, Florence, MS, 39073. The funeral service will follow at 3:00pm at the same location. Interment will take place at 4:30 p.m. at Glenwood Memorial Cemetery, 840 Old Hwy 49 S, Richland, MS 39218.
