Jonathan Reed Oswalt, 39 years old, went home to be with the Lord, January 3, 2023, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Jackson. Born in Flowood, February 18, 1983, to Randy Reed Oswalt and Mary Joan Sumrall of Byram. A graduate of Terry High School, Jonathan went on after high school to work in the automotive industry as a parts clerk, most recently for over 7 years at Empire Trucking Company. He married his high school sweetheart, Carman Diane Byrd. They have 2 beautiful daughters that he adored. He was an avid Mississippi State fan and never missed an opportunity to watch them play. He loved trivia game shows and all sports, but he loved his family the most. He had a kind heart and if you knew him, you knew he was not one to talk a lot, but when he spoke it always added to the discussion. He was an active member of First Baptist Church of Byram. He loved the Lord and lived his life in a way that showed that to those who met him.
He is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Carman Byrd Oswalt; his two daughters, Mary Claire and Caitlyn Oswalt; his twin brother Steven Oswalt of Byram, and a host of friends.
Visitation will be Friday, January 6, 2023, from 5:00-8:00 pm will be held at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram. Visitation on Saturday, January 7, 2023, from 12:00 pm until the 1:00 pm service at First Baptist Church of Byram. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be made to First Baptist Church of Byram or American Heart Association in his honor.
