Mr. John "Shelby" Sykes

John Shelby Sykes, 59, passed away Saturday, October 03, 2015 at his home in Florence, MS. Visitation will be Monday, October 05, 2015 at 10:30am until the 11:00am graveside service all at Poplar Springs Cemetery in Crystal Springs, MS. Mr. Sykes was a lifelong resident of Florence. He loved to make people laugh. He enjoyed fishing and hunting but was terrified of snakes. He owned a plumbing business and truly loved his job. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cynthia Ann and Johnny Sykes; brother, Dale Sykes; and his best friend Ronnie Slay. He is survived by his daughters, Jennifer Sykes of Crystal Springs and Regina (Brad) Reis of Florence; brother, Mike (Nancy) Sykes of Oklahoma; sisters, Jo Ann (Mike) Beasley of Petal, Dianne Slay of Florence, Lisa (Darryl) Bone of Brandon and Jeanette (Roscoe) Singletary of Florence; 2 grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
