Reverend John Henry Smith, Jr., the oldest of ten siblings, was born to the union of Magnora Smith and Deacon John Henry Smith, Sr. of Darling, Mississippi; much joy was shared in this celebration of life. Reverend Smith attended Spring Hill School in Florence, Mississippi. In addition to attending Piney Woods College in Piney Woods, Mississippi. Later, Reverend Smith participated at the Covenant Theological Seminary in St. Louis, Missouri where he received his degree in Biblical and Theological Studies with honors.  Reverend Smith grew up in the teaching of Christ through his father and mother and his church family at Springhill. Reverend Smith's exemplary studies allowed him to preach the word of God to hundreds and live a life that reflected his Christ-like beliefs.

Additionally, Reverend Smith spread the word of the Lord for over 40 years to his parishioners. Reverend Smith loved the Lord, reached souls, and established a career at The Daimler Chrysler Corporation for over 32 years in Fenton, Missouri. Reverend Smith became a lead inspector for the vehicles coming off the assembly lines. This allowed him to take flight lessons and own a Cessna plane, becoming one of the few African American private pilots in Missouri.

Reverend Smith’s life was full of love and adventures that allowed him to see the world and engage with people all over the country, and Reverend Smith was excited to share his love of Christ with strangers so they could become closer to the Lord.

Reverend Smith’s mother, Mrs. Magnora Smith, and his father Deacon John Henry Smith, Sr., preceded him in death.  As well as his siblings, Roseann Dudley, Tommy Smith, David Smith, Curtis Smith, Gurtis Smith, and Mildred Carr.

Reverend Smith leaves to cherish his precious memories to a devoted, phenomenal, and unwavering wife and caregiver, Mrs. Lawyna Smith of 21 years.
