Mr. John Cicero Davis, 87, died at the VA Medical Center Sunday, September 14, 2008. Visitation will be Tuesday, 5-8 p.m. at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence and 9:30 a.m. at Gatesville Baptist Church on Wednesday prior to the Services at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow in the Gatesville Cemetery.\ \ Mr. Davis was a lifelong resident of the Harrisville area. He was a retired farmer, served in the Coast Guard and deacon at Gatesville Baptist Church.\ \ He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Ruth Byrd Davis; sons: John Michael Davis of Moody, AL, David Lamar Davis of Montgomery, AL; daughter, Nancy Davis Sykes of Harrisville; brothers: Willie "Frank" Davis of Hazlehurst, Homer Lee Davis of Mendenhall; sister: Mildred Griffin of Crystal Springs, 3 grandchildren: Daniel and Laura Sykes and Taylor Davis.\
