Joanne Lynn Edmiston

September 27, 1956 — January 18, 2024

Florence

Joanne Lynn Edmiston was born September 27, 1956, and passed away January 16,2024 at her home in Florence, MS.

Joanne was born on September 27, 1956, to Bluford and Angeline Edmiston in Danville, IL. Where she lived and became a hairstylist until she moved to Florida in the fall of 1981. In Florida she continued her hairstylist career and also became a barista and manager of Barnes and Noble coffee shop. In 2004 she moved to Florence, MS to be closer to her sister, niece, and nephews. In Mississippi she found her passion and love of growing and teaching children. She worked as a preschool teacher until she retired. Joanne also loved her fur children Max and Joey. One of Joanne's greatest joys was spending time with her family, and watching her great nephews play all of their various sports. She was a very proud Aunt and Great Aunt or GAJ as her family called her.  Many memories were made, but one of the fondest is Joanne and her sister Diana "helping" Santa safely land at each of her great nephews’ houses making sure that trinkets fell off of Santa's sleigh for them to find the next morning. Joanne was the most caring person and had a deep love of her family.  She will be greatly missed.

Joanne is survived by her sister's Diana Phillips; Pamela (Bob) Prater: Niece: LeaAnn (Mike) Evans; Nephew's: J.L. (Stephanie) Phillips; Curt (Carrie) Prater; Brody (Kelly) Prater and a host of great nephews, nieces, and friends.

Joanne is preceded in death by her parents Bluford and Angeline Edmiston and her nephew Tony Phillips.

Joanne will be laid to rest in her final resting place in Illinois beside her father and mother.
