Jo Ann Beasley

Jo Ann Sykes Beasley passed away October 14, 2026, at home in Petal, Mississippi at the age of 72. Jo Ann was born on July 7, 1954, in Hazlehurst, Mississippi to Johnny Sykes and Cynthia Ann Taylor Sykes.

Jo Ann enjoyed fishing, camping and loved to travel. Those who knew her will remember the happiness she found in time spent outdoors and the memories she made along the way. She also had a great love of animals and treasured her dogs, most recently Piper.

Jo Ann is survived by her soulmate of 37 years, Michael Beasley of Petal, MS. She leaves behind her sons, Chris Cooper (Amanda) of Hattiesburg, MS and Henry Cooper (Julyn) of Star, MS; grandchildren Kara Cooper, Mallory Shows and Seth Cooper; and great-grandchild Honey Shows. Also surviving Jo Ann are her sisters Janette Singletary (Roscoe) of Florence, MS and Lisa Bone (Darryl) of Florence, MS; brother Mike Sykes (Nancy) of Stratford, OK; sister-in-law Trish Shotts (Daniel) of Brandon, MS; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her mother Cynthia Ann Taylor, father Johnny Sykes, brothers Dale Sykes and Shelby Sykes, sister Dianne Sykes, sister-in-law Sherry Beasley, mother-in-law Lillian Beasley, and father-in-law Lewis Beasley.

Visitation will be held Saturday, October 17, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Chancellor Funeral Home, 2576 US Highway 49, Florence, Mississippi 39073. A second visitation will be held Sunday, October 18, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Chancellor Funeral Home, followed by the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Burial will take place Sunday, October 18, 2026, at Lakewood Memorial Park South, 430 McCluer Road, Jackson, Mississippi 39212.
