James Freeman Webb, Jr (72) of the Monterey Community passed away on July 16, 2025, at home surrounded by his family. Born on Feb 16, 1953, in Brandon, MS, he was a 1973 graduate of Brandon High School.
James served the Monterey Community through his Church, Fire Department, and the Water Association. He was a lifelong member of Briar Hill Baptist Church where he was ordained as Deacon and served as a Trustee. In 2016, after 41 years of service he retired from Monterey Volunteer Fire Department. He served faithfully and diligently for many years as Monterey Fire Chief, as well as a Board Member of the Monterey Water Association. James was honored to receive Rankin County Volunteer Leader of the Year in 2011. As a Service Tech he was employed with Entex, MS Valley Gas, and Atmos Entergy, retiring in December 2016.
One of his favorite pastimes was supporting his children and grandchildren by attending Band, Softball, Football, Baseball, Dance and Cheer events. In later years he enjoyed traveling, camping, and cooking with friends and family.
James is preceded in death by his loving parents James Freeman Webb, Sr and Lillie Mae Webb. He is survived by his wife, Lola of 46 years; son Scott (Nichole) Webb; daughter Rachel (Michael) Cline; son Drew (Shelby) Webb; grandchildren Maylee, Addi Rose, and Hayes Webb, Andrew and Anna Grace Lawson, Levi and Landon Webb; siblings Bynn (Lori) Webb, and Lynn (Rick) Parker.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Briar Hill Baptist Church building fund, Monterey Volunteer Fire Department, or the Gideons.
