James
Moudy
May 21, 1944 — Jul 23, 2026
James Arthur Moudy, 82, of Raymond, MS, passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home on July 23, 2026. Visitation will be held at Chancellor Funeral Home, Byram, Sunday, July 26, 2026, from 1 to 3 p.m. with funeral service to follow.
James was born on May 21, 1944, in Kosciusko, MS, to his parents: James Mathias Moudy and Emma Jewel Moss Moudy. James is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 64 years, Sarah; his loving daughter, Michele (David) Brinson; his precious grandchildren: Ryan Porter (Skylar); Brent Porter (Courtney); and Heath Brinson (Stacy); his beloved great grandchildren: Paxton, Finn, Ava, Betty, Annastyn, Everly, Braxton, and Briggslee; his brother: Bobbie (Betty) Moudy; and his sisters: JoeAnn (Billy) Parker and Nancy (Danny) Powell; his sisters-in-law: Flora, Katie, and Robin Moudy; many nieces and nephews; aunts and uncles; cousins; and other loved ones and friends.
He is preceded in death by his loving parents; his brothers: Billy Ray, Terry, and Boe Moudy; his grandson Seaver Brinson; and his granddaughter Mallory Brinson. First and foremost, James was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He truly enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, especially during the holidays and on special occasions. James was employed by Burke Handling Systems in Richland, MS, and retired in 2010 after 43 years of dedicated service.
In addition to working, he was an active member of Parkside Baptist Church where he served as Chairman of the Trustees and was the Men’s Sunday School Class teacher. James loved his church and will be remembered for his faithfulness and willingness to help anyone in need. James was also an active member of the Oak Forest Exchange Club in his earlier years. In his free time, he also enjoyed gardening and working with his hands. 2 Timothy 4:7-8 says, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.
Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day–and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for His appearing.” We rejoice in knowing that James has been made whole, with no more suffering and pain. He has received his award in Heaven and God said, “Well done my good and faithful servant.”
Pall Bearers: Ryan Porter, Brent Porter, Joey Bullock, Horace Grantham, Russell Jones, and Mickey Perry. Honorary Pall Bearers: Paxton Coulter, Finn Porter, and Daniel Jones. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Parkside Baptist Church, P.O. Box 720634, Byram, MS 39272 or to St. Jude.
