James (Jim) H. Moore, 78, of Terry, MS, passed away peacefully at his home after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease. He was born on December 12, 1946, in Crystal Springs, MS.

Jim is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Dolly (Phillips) Moore; his daughter, Jamie Moore Adams, and her husband, Zach Adams; and his two grandchildren, Macy Adams (12) and Luke Adams (9).

In April of 1966, Jim enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He completed boot camp at the Great Lakes Naval Recruit Training Command in North Chicago, IL, and continued training at the U.S. Naval Training Center in Bainbridge, MD. His first duty station was at Norfolk Naval Station in Norfolk, VA. Jim served on active duty in Vietnam aboard Landing Ship, Tank (LST) vessels 1123, 1126, and 525. He concluded his service in 1970 at the Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base in New Orleans, LA.

After his service, Jim married the love of his life, Dolly, in March of 1970. He continued his education at Wesley College and began his career in heavy-duty parts and service, where he worked diligently for 40 years until his retirement in 2015.

Jim was the truest example of a devoted husband and loving father. As a man of deep Christian faith, he had unwavering dedication, quiet strength, and steadfast integrity. In every role he held (protector, provider, mentor, friend) he was constant, faithful, and true.

His hobbies included quail hunting and fishing, but his true passion was playing in a band with his wife and friends. Jim was also known for his wonderful sense of humor, which never failed to bring a smile to those around him.

A longtime and active member of Bethesda Baptist Church, Jim’s life reflected his faith and his care for others. Known for his kind spirit and willingness to serve, he touched many lives through his love for family, friends, music, and community.
