Irma Ellis

Irma Ellis passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 27, 2026, at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson, Mississippi. She was 87 years old.

Irma was born on June 21, 1939, in Tilburg, Holland, to Kurt Muller and Maria Josephina Klijsen. In 1961, she married the love of her life, Leonard Leon Ellis, and together they shared 65 years of marriage, building a life centered around family, love, and hard work.

Irma was a talented seamstress who took great pride in her work. Throughout her career, she worked at several places, including McRae’s, Belk, and Norman Shirt Makers. She continued working for many years before retiring around the age of 70. Her skill with her hands extended far beyond her profession, as she greatly enjoyed sewing and knitting.

Irma also had a special love for flowers, cooking, and caring for those around her. One of her greatest joys was preparing meals and making sure her family was well fed. She loved her family deeply and was happiest when she could spend time with them, care for them, and provide for the people she loved. She will be remembered for her strong work ethic, her creativity, her devotion to her family, and the love she showed through the many things she did for others.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Kurt Muller and Maria Josephina Klijsen; her brother, John Muller; her granddaughter, Brandy Wallace; and her great-granddaughter, Lillian Brandy Adele Moudy.

Those left to cherish her memory include her beloved husband, Leon Ellis; her daughters, Judi Ellis, Kathie Hyatt, and Monica Martin; her grandchildren, Jordan Martin Owen, Caylee Moudy, and Christian Martin; two great-grandchildren, with another great-grandchild on the way; and her sister, Sophia Wirth.

Irma’s life was one of love, service, family, and dedication. The memories she created, the meals she lovingly prepared, the things she made with her hands, and the care she gave to her family will remain a treasured part of her legacy for generations to come.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., with the funeral service beginning at 2:00 p.m.
