Irene Marie Wright

Irene Marie Wright, 88, of Raymond, MS went to be with Jesus on Sunday, July 31, 2022 surrounded by her loved ones. Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 4, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of the service at 11:00 a.m. at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram, MS. Interment will follow at Palestine Cemetery in Raymond, MS.

Irene was born in Claiborne County, Mississippi on March 27, 1934 to Carl Anderson and Cora Green Anderson. She was employed with Milwaukee Tools for 15 years as a factory worker. After her retirement, she found great joy in being a homemaker and caretaker for her husband and mother. She always made Christmas fun for the kids and enjoyed playing Santa. Irene also enjoyed volunteering at Willow Creek Nursing Home. She loved yard work, cooking, quilting, sewing, and a good game of cards. Most of all, she loved her family. She was a life-long member of Church of Christ in Clinton, MS.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Douglas F. Wright; daughter-in-law, Kimberly Wright; sister, Edna Davis; brother, J.W. Anderson; and brother-in-law, Richard Phillips. She is survived by her children, Roger Wright of Jackson, Ruth Whitlock (Ray)of West Monroe, LA, and Rebecca Holley (David) of Richland; grand-daughters, Erica Bera (Josh), Erin Phillips, and Alisha Graves; grandson, Christopher Holley (Kendall); 8 great-grandchildren; sisters, Bonnie Skates, Alice Humphreys, and Mollie Newbaker; and her little dog, Cozy Savannah, who was a precious companion for 10 years.
