Ila Dean Keith, a cherished member of the Florence community, passed away on May 3, 2026, in Byram, Mississippi. Born in French Camp, Mississippi, to Homer Youngblood and Lucy Pullen on June 30, Ila lived a full and meaningful life marked by her dedication to family, faith, and community.
A retired Teacher's Assistant, Ila was known for her compassionate spirit and her unwavering commitment to helping others. She had a genuine love for nurturing both people and nature, an affection beautifully reflected in her avid gardening and deep appreciation for flowers and plants. Her daily joys included going to Wal-Mart and Ramey’s, places that brought her so much joy as she would see members of her community, these were some of the special moments in her life.
Ila spent the last twenty-five years of her life in Florence, where she was an active and -faithful member of Star Baptist Church. Her dedication to her church stood as one of her proudest accomplishments, symbolizing a life lived in service and devotion.
She is survived by her daughter, Kelly Sikes; her sister, Dossy Steed; sister-in-law, Hilda Martin; and grandchildren Dustin Skinner, Lori Finnegan, and Lauren Keith. These family members carry forward her legacy of kindness and faith. Ila was preceded in death by her beloved parents, her husband, Bobby Keith, and her son, Todd Keith.
A visitation honoring Ila’s life will take place on May 9, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at Star Baptist Church, 301 Mangum Drive, Florence, MS. A funeral service will follow at 10:30 a.m. She will be laid to rest at Covenant Baptist Church Cemetery in French Camp, MS.
Her family, friends, and all who knew Ila will remember her as a generous soul whose love of life, family, and faith left an indelible imprint.
