Obituary

Ida Lynn Wood Lee, lovingly known to family and friends as “Lynn” or “Pooh,” passed away peacefully on Friday, June 12, 2026, at the University of Mississippi Medical Center.

Lynn was preceded in death by her parents, Charles R. Wood (“Charlie”) and Evelyn Blair Wood; her paternal grandparents, Melvin L. Hamilton and Ida M. Hamilton; and her maternal grandparents, John D. Blair and Lillian A. Blair.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 51 years, Robert C. Lee, Jr. (“Bob”); her sons, Robert C. Lee, III and Christopher C. Lee; her granddaughter, Abigail Alice Jacobs Lee; her grandsons, Kayden Pryce Sisson and Gabe Conner Sisson; her great-grandson, Westin Thomas Connors; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and many cherished friends.

There are special people who make a difference in the lives of others, who make the best of whatever life hands them, and who leaves everyone smiling along the way. Lynn was one of those people.

Lynn never met a stranger and had a remarkable gift for making everyone feel loved, welcomed, and valued. She graduated from Wingfield High School in Jackson, Mississippi, in 1970 and earned her degree from Mississippi State University in 1974.

Known affectionately as “Pooh,” Lynn became the driving force behind Wingfield High School class reunions. If anyone needed to reconnect with a classmate, Lynn was the person to call. She seemed to know where everyone lived, how to reach them, and all about their families. Her dedication kept lifelong friendships alive.

Lynn was a two-time president of the South Jackson Civic League and was appointed to the Jackson Library Commission by former Mayor Dale Danks. She was also the beloved “Boss Queen” of the Queens Classymates Krewe chapter of the Sweet Potato Queens.

Through the Queens Classymates, Lynn helped organize numerous fundraisers benefiting Batson Children’s Hospital. Together, they raised more than $100,000 over the years, always guided by their motto: “It’s all for the chillren.” As Lynn would proudly say, “SPQ Forever!”

A faithful member of Raymond Road Baptist Church, Lynn lived her life with kindness, generosity, compassion, and unwavering devotion to her family and friends. She was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to many. Her warm spirit, infectious smile, and genuine concern for others touched countless lives.

Lynn leaves behind a legacy of love, friendship, service, and community that will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at Raymond Road Baptist Church. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by the service at 11:00 a.m.

Though she will be deeply missed, her memory will live on in the hearts of her family, friends, classmates, church family, and the many lives she touched throughout her journey.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Blair E Batson Children’s Hospital of Mississippi.
