Henry Lee Collins, Jr

Henry Lee Collins, Jr. passed away on October 2, 2025 at Baptist Hospital in Jackson, Mississippi after an extended illness. He was born on August 26, 1955 in Grenada, Mississippi to Henry (H.L.) Collins, Sr. and Sharla Jo Scarbrough Collins.

A hardworking man, he spent over fifty years as a hand lettering and sign painter artist. With a passion for drawing, woodcarving, knife making, screen printing, stain glass and creating beautiful furniture. His artistic spirit was reflected in everything he created, leaving a lasting impression on those who were fortunate enough to witness his works.

A gifted musician, Henry had a deep appreciation for music, particularly the Blues. He enjoyed playing the guitar and harmonica, finding joy in the melodies that inspired him. Alongside his love for music, he was an avid reader who explored numerous subjects through literature. More of his interests were watching pro football games, Street Rod cars and trucks, long distance running and mountain biking on local trails.

Henry was known for his big heart and generous spirit; selfless in nature. His ability to give unconditionally and his infectious kindness left a lasting legacy within his community and beyond.

Henry was a devoted husband to his wife, Paula Dabbs Collins, whom she called Lee. They were high school sweethearts and married for 51 years. He was a loving father to his son, Chris L. Collins (Jennifer Thornton) of Byram and a caring father to his daughter, Vanessa L. Collins (Jackie Coumbe) of Terry. He was also a proud grandfather to his grandsons, Gavin and Liam Collins, whom he loved guiding their creativity by sharing his artistic zeal.

He is also survived by his brothers, George Collins (Cindy) of Brandon, Andy Collins (Kathryn) of McComb , sisters in law Vonda D. Echols (Ken), Vistra D. Brooks (Dennis) , an aunt and uncle, numerous nieces and nephews and close friends.

In remembrance of Henry Lee Collins, Jr , his family and friends will cherish the memories of his laughter, passion and unwavering support. He will be deeply missed, but his spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those lucky enough to have known him.

Celebration of Life will be held on November 2, 2025 at 2:00 pm at the Terry Train Depot in Downtown Terry, Mississippi.
