Helen Mary Machost, born on August 14, 1927, in Panna Maria, Texas to Theodore Opiela and Gertrude Pawlik, passed away peacefully on February 24, 2026, in Flowood, Mississippi. A dedicated mother and cherished grandmother, she leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion.

Helen is survived by her children, Paula (Bob) Metzger, Paul (Wendy McAlpin) Machost, Jr., Michael (Lora) Machost, Noel (Marianne) Machost, and Frank Machost. She also leaves behind her six grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild, all of whom were a source of joy and pride for her.

Helen was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Paul Machost, Sr., and her parents. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Ted Opiela, and her sister, Irene Lancaster.

A visitation will be held in her honor on Sunday, March 1st, from 3:00 PM-5:00 PM, with the Rosary being given at 4:30 PM at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram. A second Visitation will be held on Monday, March 2, 2026, at St. Therese Catholic Church located at 309 W McDowell Rd, Jackson, Mississippi, beginning at 10:00 AM and continuing until 11:00 AM. Following the visitation, a funeral service will commemorate her life at the same location, starting at 11:00 AM and concluding at 12:00 PM. She will be laid to rest at Lakewood Memorial South following the service.
