Gloria Janet Pickering-Bethany

Gloria Janet Pickering Bethany passed into the loving arms of Jesus on Monday, July 17, 2023. She was 89 years old. The family will receive friends for visitation from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. Friday, July 21, 2023, at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence.

Mrs. Janet was born on March 17, 1934, to John Everett Pickering and Nannie Lou Cook Pickering in Covington. MS.  She was a member of Mountain Creek Baptist Church in Florence. Mrs. Janet was retired from the US Forestry Service. She loved her family, especially her great grandchildren. She loved to cook and cook for everyone. She had a servant’s heart. Always taking care of others. She was always smiling. You would never know the troubles she was facing because she always wore that smile. To know her was to love her. She will be missed.

Janet is preceded in death by her husband, Robert “Price” Bethany and eight siblings.  She is survived by her daughter, Donna Etheridge of Canton; sister, Faye Porch of Flowood; grandchildren, Zach Etheridge of Madison, and Patty Parham (Anthony) of Pearl; great grandchildren, Raven Toombs, Lance Toombs, Bella Parham, Lane Parham, and Price Etheridge.
