Gerri Renea Beckham Yelverton (Gigi), age 69, passed away on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Gerri was born on January 27, 1957, in Hazlehurst, Mississippi, to the late Joyce Newton (J.N.) Beckham and Bonnie Beckham.
She is survived by her loving son, Ryan Van Gordon (Christi); and her cherished grandsons, Payton Ryan Van Gordon, Stone Newton Van Gordon, and Evan Bradley Drummond. She is also survived by her uncle, Robert Higgins (Terri), and cousin, Robbin Pennington, along with many dear friends and extended family members who loved her dearly.
Gerri was a faithful member of Briar Hill Baptist Church in Florence, where her love for the Lord was evident in the way she lived her life and cared for others.
Gerri’s greatest love was her family, and the joy of her heart was found in her son and grandsons. She also found great happiness in her many years of lovingly spoiling her many dogs, presently Molly. Gerri will always be remembered for her glowing smile, her laughter, her love of friends, and the many lighthearted jokes she delighted in playing on those she loved.
A woman of many talents, Gerri expressed her creativity through sewing beautiful quilts for family and friends—gifts that will be treasured for generations. She also found joy in working with flowers and painting, always appreciating the beauty in the world around her.
Gerri lived a life devoted to serving and honoring God. She faithfully gave of herself, especially in the loving care of her parents over many years. Now at peace, she has been released from earthly suffering and welcomed into eternal glory as a testament to her unwavering faith in Jesus Christ. The promise fulfilled through a life devoted to Him—“Well done, my good and faithful servant.” (Matthew 25:23)
Gerri’s love and legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Visitation will take place from_10:00 am – 12:00 pm at Briar Hill Baptist Church in Florence followed by funeral service at 12:00. Graveside service will take place at Glenwood Memorial Park, in Richland, MS.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Sam, to the many friends, and her Vitalcaring Hospice Team, for their compassionate care, kindness, and support during this time.
