Gerl James Johnson

Gerl James Johnson passed into the loving arms of Jesus on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, in Hattiesburg, MS. He was 79 years old.  The family will receive friends for visitation on Thursday, January 5, 2023, from 1:00 p.m.-2:00 p.m. at Dry Creek Baptist Church in Florence. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m.

Mr. Johnson was born to the late Garven James Johnson and Lois Sellers Johnson on February 20, 1943, in Jackson. He enjoyed traveling, loved to deer hunt, fish, and shrimping. He was a lifelong member of Dry Creek Baptist Church in Florence. He lived most of his life in Florence but lived in Hattiesburg the past 6 years.  He also served in the US Air National Guard for 25 years.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Johnson. He is survived by his wife; Sherry Johnson of Hattiesburg; daughter; Nikki Johnson of Ocean Springs; grandsons; Keagan Johnson (Kaylena) and Sage Pearson both of Ocean Springs; great grandson; Alucard Johnson and several cousins and extended family.
