Geraldine (Gerri) Noakes passed away peacefully on Friday, August 22, 2025, after an extended illness. She was born on January 25, 1934, in Provo, Utah, to Zella Ann Marrott Noakes and William Wallace Noakes.

A lifelong learner and educator, Gerri earned her master’s degree in special education from Brigham Young University. She devoted her career to supporting children with severe and multiple disabilities at the Dan Peterson School, where her compassion and patience left a lasting impact on countless students and families.

Gerri will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and creative spirit. She had a gift for writing children’s poetry and found joy in collecting beautiful things that spoke to her heart.

After living most of her life in Utah, Gerri moved to Terry, Mississippi, in 2010, where she spent her later years surrounded by family.

She is survived by her children Julie Ann Ingram, James Allen Ingram, and Jeannie Alese Ingram, as well as her grandchildren Kaelin Thomas Hanson, William Connor Hanson, and Elise Sakura Eichner.

Found among her belongings was one of the poems she had written, which reflects her heart and spirit. The family treasures these words as a final gift of comfort and love.

“Now my life is over

I lay me down to silent sleep

Beneath the cool and gentle soil

Sweet memories forever mine to keep

So do not weep my special ones

For life is really just a minute

And I have now all eternity

To reap rewards for deeds done in it”

Private prayer services were held for the family on Monday, August 24, 2025. In keeping with Gerri’s wishes, no larger public services will be held.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Accent Care Hospice for the compassionate care provided during Gerri’s final days, with special thanks to her nurse, Kevin Tucker, for his kindness and gentle attention.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in Gerri’s memory, in honor of her courage and resilience throughout her journey with the disease.
