IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Geraldine
Corso
July 5, 1938 – March 26, 2026
Geraldine Lawrence Corso, “Gerry”, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and community member, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by loved ones on March 26, 2026, in the town of Richland, Mississippi. Born on July 5, 1938, in Port Gibson, Mississippi, to Leon Lawrence and Merlin Maxwell Lawrence. Gerry lived a life deeply rooted in her community, her love of dance, her family, and her faith.
Gerry was raised in Biloxi, Mississippi and her love of dance blossomed when she was just a young child. At the age of 15, Gerry started her very own dance school. In her childhood years, she also had a love of horses and participated in rodeos in and around her hometown. During her time in college, she took her love of dance with her and became a Dixie Darling at The University of Southern Mississippi. Gerry carried that love of dance with her when she moved to the city of Richland, Mississippi. While living here, Gerry re-kindled her love with her high school sweetheart, August Joseph Corso, and they were married on July 5, 1998. While living in Richland, Gerry and August found their church home at First Methodist Church of Richland. Alongside teaching dance, Gerry worked for the American Cancer Society during her first years living in Richland. She would soon become a devoted member of her community by working as the counselor’s secretary at Richland High School and Richland Teacher's Assistant at the Elementary School, announcing the football games alongside her husband, August, at Richland High School, and was also the Grand Marshall for the parades in the city of Richland. Her devotion for her community was known by all and earned her recognition from the Mayor of Richland. Gerry altogether taught dance all around the state of Mississippi for 62 years.
She is survived by her loving husband of 27 years, August Joseph Corso; her daughter-in-law, Susan Christensen; her son, Darold Cody Christensen (Karen); and her daughters, Georgia Dea Christensen and Donya Gwynn Adams. She leaves behind her grandchildren, Casey Hillman, Charlie Hillman, Dayton Adams, Dawson Adams, Darren Adams, Cooper Christensen, Lana Jones, Jessica Goggins, Cody Christensen, Jr., Morgan Washington, and Grace Smith; nephew, Wiley Joe Haab; and nieces, Gerry Lin Motley and Glynese Irby.
Gerry was preceded in death by her parents, Leon and Merlin Lawrence; her son, Clark Christensen (Susan); and her sister, Georgia Lin Budnich.
Gerry’s life was one of devotion and commitment - to her family, her passion for dance, and her community. She will be remembered with admiration and love to all who knew her. Forever missed and forever loved.
