Gerald Milton Jones, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and servant of the community, passed away on October 29, 2024 in Flowood, Mississippi, at the age of 87. Born on September 1, 1937, in Crystal Springs, MS to Clifton V. and Ada Jones,  Gerald led a life marked by deep familial bonds, unwavering commitment to service, and passions that brought him joy.

Gerald served in the United States Naval Reserves.  He enjoyed a devoted career as a seasoned tax auditor with the Mississippi State Tax Commission, He was respected in his profession, where he built a career that exemplified his diligent work ethic and attention to detail. However, it was his roles within his family that brought him the greatest fulfillment. He was a loving husband to Shirley McPhail Jones, with whom he shared 62 years of marriage. Together, they fostered a nurturing environment for their two daughters, Lisa  and Amy. Gerald took immense pride in his family, cherishing moments spent with his daughters and delighting in coaching Amy's sports teams, as they formed lasting memories spending a good bit of time together in their yard.

Beyond his family, Gerald was known for his generous spirit and commitment to serving others. He believed strongly in the importance of community service, dedicating his time and resources to help those in need. He was an active member of the Lions Club of Terry, where he served as Treasurer and president, and he generously offered his support to his church, Hillcrest Baptist in every capacity; serving as a tresurer and deacon for over 40 years. His faith was a guiding principle, and he lived as a true servant of the Lord.  

Gerald was also known for his varied interests and hobbies. He enjoyed golfing, traveling, watching football, following NASCAR, bicycle riding, and immersing himself in music, with a particular fondness for opera and jazz. A man of passion, he took pride in owning a powerful Mustang, which had over 700 horsepower—a testament to his vibrant personality.  

He is survived by his beloved wife, his two daughters, Lisa Bourgoyne (Tray) of Raymond and Amy Myers (Bill) of Madison; his grandchildren, Brooke Melton (Garrett), Austin Myers, Brad Myers, and Aaden Myers; as well as a sister, Bobbie Sue Alford of Katy, TX.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers: Marcus, Clifton V. Jr., and Oswald Jones.
