Georgia Lenell Tackett

Georgia Lenell Tackett entered her Heavenly home Tuesday, December 26, 2023, in Jackson, MS. She was 89 years old. The family will receive friends for visitation from 12:00-2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 30, 2023, at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence, MS. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. Interment will take place in the Garden of memories following the service.

Georgia was born on June 19, 1934, to Roy Orton and Emma Ryan in Jackson, MS. She worked in childcare for 60 years with 35 of those years spent at KinderCare. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Richland. Georgia loved her family.  Her children and grandchildren filed her heart with joy, and she had a BIG heart. She loved and was loved by everyone who knew her.  She enjoyed the time she spent with her Friend Group at the Richland Community Center getting together with others to fellowship. Georgia loved to cook, and she made a mean dressing. She loved playing Bunko. Enjoyed Genealogy studying family history and camping at Dump Lake.

Georgia is preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Onie Orton; mother, Emma Ryan; husband, Manley “Sonny” Tackett; son, Manley “Bert” Tackett; sisters, Betty Ann Orton-McFarland and Virgie Grace; and grandchildren, Keith Tackett and Owen Flanagan. She is survived by her sons, Donald Ray Tackett (Karen) of Terry, MS, Michael Roy Tackett (Marilyn) of Marissa, IL, James Ely Tackett (Lisa) of Louisville, KY, and Jerry Lee Tackett (Renae) of Quitman, MS; daughter, Linda Faye Phillips (Jerry) of Clarksville, AR; daughter-in-law, Ha Tackett; adopted brother, Mike Ross of Canton, MS; 11 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
