The family of Gary Eugene Moak of Florence, MS is saddened to announce his passing on April 2, 2026 at the age of 71 years in his home. Gary was born on January 13, 1955 to Inez (Hughes) and Homer Ray Moak in McComb, MS.

Gary was a soft spoken, kind hearted gentle soul and will be missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him. He was a skilled bricklayer by trade. Gary loved being outdoors and enjoyed old cars, riding motorcycles, hunting and fishing. He enjoyed the sport of boxing and became a lightweight state champion Golden Glove boxer in 1976.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Martha Woodruff, and two brothers, James and Wayne Moak.

Survivors include sons, Gary “Shayne” Moak of Jackson, and Stephen T. Moak of Pearl; grandchildren, Branson L. Moak, Haileigh T. Moak; great-granddaughter, Lylah G. Covington. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins. The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to his nephew, Joey Moak, for his devoted support and care of his uncle Gary.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence with visitation beginning at 10:00 AM. Gary will be laid to rest next to his beloved father in the Garden of Memories Cemetery next to the funeral home.
